ABOUT SHARON

Sharon is a figurative artist with deep roots in the world of advertising, art direction and design. She graduated in fine art and graphic design, Natal Technikon (now Durban University of Technology), and studied under Andrew Verster, Paul Stopforth, and Cliff Bestall. Sharon was employed in design studios and advertising agencies in Durban, Johannesburg and London. Sharon had a 15 year career in advertising and marketing, seven with international group McCann-Erickson: she conceptualized and directed over 150 still photographic shoots and television commercials; winning awards in both print and television, locally and internationally including 'Creativity' in New York.

Sharon moved to England for five years and created her own fashion label for children. Back in South Africa, becomes director of award winning international branding and design group Interbrand Sampson. She returns to her roots in fine art and studies most forms of painting. In addition she has studied printmaking and has interacted with top printmaking practitioners both locally and in London.

Sharon specialises in oil painting and printmaking. She participates in solo and group exhibitions in South Africa and her work is held by corporate and private owners in SA, England and the USA. Sharon has a double volume studio with a printmaking section - including an hydraulic printing press - where she runs workshops and classes in a variety of media including printmaking. She invites emerging young printmakers to collaborate with her so gaining experience and adding to their income. Sharon's prints are represented by The South African Print Gallery in Cape Town.

Sharon's studio is in Johannesburg, where she lives with her husband and two daughters.
