Catch and Release highlights catching fish and releasing them back into the water alive – a goal achieved by fishermen and many sustainable practices across various sectors promoting conservation and environmental awareness. Sampson has chosen the painterly printmaking technique, Monotype for its intrinsic sense of motion and unpredictability. “I aim to create a sea of vibrant inks which flow into one another, settle before printing and ultimately create exciting, unexpected results”. Sampson’s monotype compositions capture the innate complexities of womanhood and the environment, translating them into the visual realm.
